Ripple River Gallery
& Woodturning Studio

~ Original work by exceptional artisans ~
About us…

After years of packing and unpacking our work at art fairs across the midwest, we decided to cut back on the miles. We took a leap of faith, transformed a garage into a gallery space and opened Ripple River Gallery. When we asked a few colleagues if they would be willing to show their work in our backwoods gallery, they took the leap and joined us.

That was back in June of 2000…since then we’ve been able to spend less time on the road and more time in the studio. There’s time now to work in the garden and linger over morning coffee to watch the deer browsing in our backyard.  Best of all, we’ve met an made some great friends—art connects us all!

Who we are…

Bob Carls, a full-time studio artist, has earned recognition for his wood-turned vessels at juried arts events and exhibitions throughout the upper midwest. He is also the gardener in residence.

Amy Sharpe, a weaver of words and fiber, plays with paint, paper and fabric and enjoys cooking for friends. She dreams in color.

Ripple River Gallery features turned and carved wood vessels by Bob Carls, weaving by Amy Sharpe, woodblock prints by Charles Beck and a wide range of original work by more than 60 exceptional regional artisans.

Located on seven wooded acres about two and a half hours north of Minneapolis, the gallery is open year-round and features an ever-changing selection of wood, pottery, weaving, jewelry, glass, mixed media, hand-pulled prints, paintings and more.

From April through November, month-long exhibits feature a body of work by individual artists, groups of artists or work centered around a theme.

We also offer classes ranging from pastel painting and traditional Scandinavian figure carving, to basket making and drawing.

Each year on the first Saturday in October, we host a fall open house and raku pottery firing. Join potter Jim Loso and glaze and fire a pot, enjoy refreshments and live music. Check out our Events page for a complete schedule of exhibits and special events.

We invite you to join the Ripple River Gallery community. Stop by if you’re in the area or keep in touch via our web site or Facebook. Art connects us all!
